On quark mass correction to the string potential

    Get PDF
Following recent work by Lambiase and Nesterenko we study in detail the interquark potential for a Nambu-Goto string with point masses attached to its ends. We obtain exact solutions to the gap equations for the Lagrange multipliers and metric components and determine the potential without simplifying assumptions. We also discuss L\"{u}scher term and argue that it remains universal.Comment: 15 pages LaTeX. 8 figures. Uses revtex.st

Density of States and Magnetic Correlations at a Metal-Mott Insulator Interface

The possibility of novel behavior at interfaces between strongly and weakly correlated materials has come under increased study recently. In this paper, we use determinant Quantum Monte Carlo to determine the inter-penetration of metallic and Mott insulator physics across an interface in the two dimensional Hubbard Hamiltonian. We quantify the behavior of the density of states at the Fermi level and the short and long range antiferromagnetism as functions of the distance from the interface and with different interaction strength, temperature and hopping across the interface. Induced metallic behavior into the insulator is evident over several lattice spacings, whereas antiferromagnetic correlations remain small on the metallic side. At large interface hopping, singlets form between the two boundary layers, shielding the two systems from each other.Comment: 7 pages, 6 figure

Single chargino production via gluon-gluon fusion in a supersymmetric theory with an explicit R-parity violation

We studied the production of single charginoχ~1±\tilde{\chi}_1^{\pm} accompanied by μ∓\mu^{\mp} lepton via gluon-gluon fusion at the LHC. The numerical analysis of their production rates is carried out in the mSUGRA scenario with some typical parameter sets. The results show that the cross sections of the χ~1±μ∓\tilde{\chi}_1^{\pm}\mu^{\mp} productions via gluon-gluon collision are in the order of 1∼1021 \sim 10^{2} femto barn quantitatively at the CERN LHC, and can be competitive with production mechanism via quark-antiquark annihilation process.Comment: LaTex file, 18 pages, 4 EPS file
